A new Phat Rack™ – Multiple Heavy Bag Rack recently got installed in a boxing gym in Memphis, TN where coaches are helping reverse and delay symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease.

Boxers condition for optimal agility, speed, muscular endurance, accuracy, balance, hand-eye coordination, footwork, and overall strength to defend against and overcome opponents. At Rock Steady, the opponent is Parkinson’s disease.

The Bio Park is now home to some new penguin friends in the Penguin Chill exhibit. The Macaroni and Gentoo Penguins came from San Diego while the King Penguins came from Orlando. This is the first exhibit where you can see these three species together. Because of this, there are over 30 total penguins in the new exhibit. Because the closest exhibit is in San Diego, it makes the new ABQ exhibit on of it’s kind in the Southwest. Great job Albuquerque!

Pascetti Steel fabricated and installed the new colored steel panel facade that sits at the entrance of the new Penguin Chill exhibit. It also doubles as a donation wall. The piece was inspired by the landscapes near Ushuaia, Argentina, which is home to Gentoo and King penguins.

The custom mural is approximately 40′ wide x 15′ tall and nearly 7,000 pounds. The mural had to be transported in four separate sections, lifted by crane and took an entire day to install.

The Penguin Chill mural was designed by MRWM Landscape Architects.

• Penguin Chill has two floors for viewing penguins above and a glass floor below that allows guests to see penguins swimming under them. 
• Seven penguin viewing areas, including a glass floor as well as an “in-tank” viewing tube
• VIP area for penguin meet-and-greet sessions
• Penguin care area, including quarantine and egg incubation rooms
• The most technologically advanced and interactive education space at the ABQ BioPark
• A live replication of  the southern lights

Smith Plaza, the center and heart of main campus at The University of New Mexico, has reopened after undergoing a major renovation completed by Jaynes Corporation. The design team included MRWM Landscape Architects, McClain +Yu Architects and Surface Design, Inc.

To celebrate the completion of the project, the public is invited to an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 10 a.m. on the Plaza.

It’s estimated that 10,000 students travel through Smith Plaza every day.  The once mostly concrete plaza has been, “Transformed into a vibrant, safe, accessible, and comfortable ‘great room’ environment that will host academic and social activities throughout the year,” said Kim Kloeppel, UNM’s chief operations officer for Student Affairs. “The renovation now has plateaus and landings with trees, grass, and many areas for students to sit, study, and socialize.”

Westminster Presbyterian Church Frame

Pascetti Steel was asked to craft the stained glass support frame for three 1918 stained glass Tiffany & Co. “Te Deum” church windows for the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Dayton, Ohio. The three windows were valued at five million dollars. The project took the team a total of 24 months to complete, with a final price tag of $400,000. View full story here.

Regal Cinemas Steel Stair Railings

The country’s largest movie theater chain, Regal Entertainment Group, is upgrading its facilities and Pascetti Steel was contracted to fabricate, finish and install theater stair railings and ADA compliant wall-mount hand railing at Regal Cottonwood Stadium 16 in Albuquerque. The refurbishment also includes new “king size” vibrating recliners and will be offering alcoholic beverages in some locations.  Additionally, working with Double AA Builders our team successfully modified stainless steel railings at the newly complete Regal Winrock Cinemas. Pascetti Steel guarantees all theater railings adhere to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) ensuring products and fabrication are safe, reliable and of premium quality.  The quick fabrication schedule was maintained by use of accurate placement jigs and pre-finished rails to control the tight production schedule.

• Contracted with Double AA Builders from Phoenix Arizona, Pascetti Steel has fabricated and installed 16 new theaters with ADA compliant stair railings and custom steel wall-mount handrails.
• Precision-formed railings made from 1.5” pipe and CNC bending machinery ensures precise geometry and proper fit.  Special bending software is used to layout the complex shapes required for correct slope geometry.
• Bending pipe and forming elbows utilizes the strength and integrity of the whole pipe verses the laborious process of cutting, welding, grinding and sanding pre-made pipe elbows.  The final product is smooth, seamless and public friendly.
• Our custom, ADA compliant wall-mount railings have been fabricated with specially formed handrail brackets that ensure rails stay strong and in place with this demanding public use.

Pascetti Steel Design recently completed the fabrication and installation of a new elevated catwalk system for Western Refining in Bloomfield, NM. The OSHA-approved catwalk was requested by Western Refining to provide top-of-tank access for refinery employees.

Pascetti Steel Design completed catwalks with cage ladder access for three large transfer stations, two exterior areas and one interior station.  The catwalk systems were transported to the site in pieces which could be easily assembled onsite.  Design and installation for the interior area was especially challenging due to limited access in which all pieces had to be carried  in by hand.  All walking surfaces are equipped with galvanized “grip-strut” planking.

All three areas were engineered to be bolted, rather than welded, onsite, because the project coincided with the day-to-day operations of this fully-functional oil and gas refinery. Pascetti Steel Design has earned a superior safety record, with a number of systematic processes in place to ensure job site safety. We are proud to report zero incidents during the fabrication and installation of this high-risk project.

Pascetti Steel Design designed and fabricated a 1,400 linear-foot custom commercial cable railing system for the recently completed $6.2 million Orange Texas Riverfront Boardwalk and Pavillion project. The boardwalk’s railings feature hot dipped galvanized finish, 3/16″ stainless steel cables and hardware, and over 16,000 rubber grommets to complete the custom look. Pascetti Steel completed the installation on this difficult site, much of the cable railing was installed from a floating construction barge.   The boardwalk incorporates a 50′ performance pavilion with a canopy, which provides 2,000 feet of coverage. The boardwalk serves as the stage. The project began in June of 2012 and was completed in May of this year. Pascetti Steel Design was awarded the contract for the recent Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) complete reconstruction of Del Norte High School in Albuquerque, NM. This project included ADA compliant steel railings, and metal infill with custom perforation and an unpunched border. The infill also featured a natural, anti-graffiti aluminum finish.

According to a story reported in the Albuquerque Journal, the 150,000-square-foot project cost $60 million and took two years to complete, with the new buildings opening for students in the Fall of 2012.

Pascetti Steel Design is currently under contract fabricating and installing powder-coated steel casework frames, stainless steel acoustic panels and stainless steel pedestrian inspection kiosks at the new Mariposa Land Port of Entry (Mariposa LPOE) in Nogales, AZ. The Mariposa LPOE is currently the second-largest construction project in AZ history! The new buildings are approximately 216,000 gross square feet, and the entire site encompasses 54 acres. This project is LEED® Platinum certified, utilizing energy-efficient technologies throughout. According to the U.S. General Services Administration website, the Mariposa LPOE is one of the United States’ busiest land ports, serving as the main entry point for fresh produce entering Mexico. Completion of the project is anticipated to be August 2014.

Santa Ana Star Center in Bernalillo, NM recently underwent a casino-wide remodel managed by Jaynes Corporation.  Pascetti Steel Design was contracted to fabricate and install custom forged railings and gates throughout the casino. These commercial railings and gates were installed at Sadie’s New Mexican Restaurant, quick-service resaurant area, throughout the penny arcade, and within the Lounge 54 upscale bar, among other locations within the casino. Pascetti Steel Design offers a variety of styles and metals to create the perfect custom curved railings desired for your project. The railings we can create vary in functional design, anywhere from conventional industrial styles to something more detailed and artistic.

A branch of Sandia Area Federal Credit Union in Albuquerque, New Mexico recently received a face-lift on one of their outdoor stairwells courtesy of Pascetti Steel Design. This custom perforated metal enclosure features anti-graffiti natural aluminum finish, trimmed edges, and of course, complete installation. Pascetti Steel Design can offer custom perforation on all types of metal, including stainless steel, aluminum and Corten, so that each individual project can meet the specific needs of the architect and owner.
